Vices & Virtues, dudes. I don't even know. I'm just so freaking happy with it. It's just...damn. It makes me fall in love with them all over again.

I know that some people are probably not going to like it - it's definitely more poppy - but ugh, I just. I love it.

Even though some of it makes me cry and wince and go 'ow'. Seriously. There is simply nothing worse than knowing how it ends. MY CREYS.

But at the same time, I miss Ryan like a punch to the gut. I can feel him, and it's like a ghost cigarette in an empty room. I want him back, Katie.

Ugh, yes, exactly. I'm...kind of worried about him, to be honest. I mean. I can't even imagine how he's feeling right now.

And I don't know, his band's on hiatus, he broke up with his girlfriend, Jon's in Chicago doing solo stuff, and what was Ryan's band just released an album with some of the most transparent lyrics ever without him that's going to be a hit.

If it was me, I'd be to the drowning myself in the bathtub stage...

I have this Ryan shaped hole in my heart, and nobody else gets in there. I can't help it, I worry about him. I worry because his lyrics mean so much to me. He wrote so powerfully about what it meant to be me as a young person. The bleeding fingers from scabbling at the dirt and the magnificent heart breaking transcendence.

There's some seriously transparent lyrics in there, which is hardly surprising. If I were Brendon or Spencer, Ryan would have broken my heart when he walked out. He's like the fire under vices and virtues, the thing you can't help hearing because it so conspicuously isn't there.

Thing is, vices and virtues is ten times the album the young veins is. It's musical tapestry like only Brendon can create, with devastating intensity. I mean, just take Kill Tonight vs Die Tonight. I know which I'd rather have.

I know Brendon has said he's open to working with Ryan again in the future. I hope Ryan is man enough to turn back to a great thing. Brendon is developing into one of the most interesting musical minds of our generation, and getting stronger by the year, but there were really only two or three times I put my hand over my mouth at the lyrics on this album. Ryan can manage two or three times a *song*, you know?
