NaNoWriMo, Merlin, Music...AND ICONS! Wot?!

GAH! Why did signing up for NaNoWriMo seem like a good idea at the time? lol I'm behind already, so I think this weekend I'll be playing catch-up. Still, it's worth it if I do manage to churn out my epic-length M/A fic. Which could happen, truefax. It is steampunk!AU after all, which is pretty motivating I must say. I mean, there's just so much to play with! But yeah, anyways, I've pretty much put everything else on hold for the month of Novemeber (unless I get really freaking inspired to write more of my college Merlin fic).

Also, I am very, very excited for tomorrow's Merlin episode. Like, really freaking excited people! I shall take a break from my lazing-about-cause-it's-Saturday and frantically-writing-nano-fic to watch it. And guh, yay for Arthur hugging dragging Merlin. Though, if Gaius dies, I will figure out a way to throw the show across the room I will! I don't care that it's not a book, it will so happen!

And also, I am now obsessed with indie music. I found this list on itunes of like 97 songs or something, and let's just say I'm in a very happy place right now, especially cause it goes well with my current AAR fanatasism. Really, I can't help but just be happy listening to my iPod these days :D

But ANYWAYS...on to TEH SHINY:

So, basically, I was bored the other day, and I decided that making Merlin icons was an excellent way to procrastinate (especially with NaNoWriMo - procrastination has become even more of a fine art, let me tell you!). And I had some screencaps I download a long time ago to revel in the prettiness. And I saw Photoshop CS4 sitting there looking at me innocently. And, well, 53 icons later, here we are.

Also I would like to tell you that I've managed to develop even more of an obsession with Bradley and Colin's eyes. They're just...so pureettty! :p

I WILL DRINK TO THAT. Er, well, milk that is, since that seems to be all that's in my dorm room at the moment, but well. It's the idea that counts right?

So, I exercise my epic skillz of epic bs-ing epically to craft the following,

I, Arithilim, writer of fanfiction and other dubious things, semiwilling participant in NaNoWriMo 2009, person of self-destructive tendencies like signing up to write 50,000 words in a month, do hereby swear to not reach for the red pen of editing doom, metaphorical or otherwise, or use the backspace key (excepting in most dire circumstance where a word has been mistyped horribly do to tiredness, muscle spasms resulting from long periods of typing, and/or drunkenness), or engage in any other manifestations of the so-called practice of 'editing' or other activities of word-count peril, provided that You, Talktosheep, fellow writer of literary works of questionable merit, compatriot in the suicidal most noble effort of NaNoWriMo, and sister-in-arms in the war against word-count murdering practices, do hereby most honorably uphold the same oath, not engaging in any of the previously forbidden activities as listed above as long as I keep my word. Do keep faith with me and I'll keep faith with you.

I may have a confession of my own to make. I only have 7,000 words, and I'm writing about a couple hundred every other day. So pretty much, I'm basically screwed too. But that's all part of the literary abandon process, right? Right??? what do you mean that's just my insanity?

you've got 7000, i've got just over 2000. sigh. i feel like a nanowrimo failure. i have to say, i'm pretty sure the term "literary abandon" means you abandon all scruples in the pursuit of literature. not that you abandon it literally. which means not only am i a nanowrimo failure, i'm a literary abandon failure. ohsigh. my characters just WON'T GO WHERE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO.

Well, considering I've written a grand total of 300 words in the past 4 days, I think I pretty much fail too. There is just no way I'm gonna make 50,000 words. No way. *sigh* Ah well, I am getting a story off to a good start. So, it's ok. There's always next year (and better planning of things before November lol) :)

And, at least we tried. And we weren't like the person who forced me to agree to do nanowrimo and then dropped out without even starting. Sheesh, people these days!

well, i had a mental breakthrough, and have written a chapter that is somewhere in the middle of this not-really-a-novel thing i'm working on. it in no way, shape, or form relates to anything i've written so far. so...i'm kind of confused. except for not really, cos it wrote smut, and i was in a very smutty mood.

we do have the rest of the year! we'll be okay, we just have to perservere. i have a feeling this will be a very long project. sigh.

dropped out? without even trying? oh GOODNESS. no one can ever say WE failed.

*facepalm* So, somehow I completely missed your comment before. Sorry about that. Apparently my livejournal skillz are lacking :p

But, yay, mental breakthrough! I hope breakthroughness continued for you :) Also, porn - yay! There can never be enough porn in this world, I am sure.

I know mine's going to be a very long project. Life happened, so I'm definitely not making the goal this month, but I really like what I have written, so I'm definitely continuing with it. It's kinda turning into one of those epic fics, so I'll likely be working on it for months at least.

And I KNOW. I was so disappointed! I mean, at least we tried, even if we don't reach 50,000 words. lol

hey, don't worry about it. i'm not sure if i ever told you, but its cait. *waves* currently, i'm dead from thanksgiving. i was feeling ill even before the cooking started, though it didn't stop me from eating my weight in casseroles. i'm debating whether or not to crawl into bed right now. i mean, a part of me is like 'no, that's not cool' cos we still have guests over, but the other part my literally fall asleep at the computer, so...

okay. more confession time. there *was* porn. it started off really well, with dialogue and actual plot (gasp!), and tea, and everything, but when it got to the smutty bits, i got halfway through and blanked. IT WAS SO BAD. i feel like such a failure. even my character doesn't have the guts to shag her history teacher. i feel as though this is a personal failing. sigh.

but how's it coming with you?
