Reason #1 - Meet the First

Merlin: That was my mistake.
Arthur: Yeah, I think so.
Merlin: Yeah. I'd never have a friend who could be such an ass.
Arthur: Or I one who could be so stupid. Tell me, Merlin. Do you know how to walk on your knees?

Reason #2 - The Second Altercation

Arthur: I could take you apart with one blow.
Merlin: I could take you apart with less than that.

Arthur: There's something about you, Merlin.

Reason #3 - Trusting Merlin

Merlin: I know I'm just a servant, and my word doesn't count for anything. I wouldn't lie to you.
Arthur:I want you to swear to me what you're telling me is true.
Merlin: I swear it's true.
Arthur: Then I believe you.

Reason #4 - Saving You (and Defying Uther)

Gaius: Few who've crossed the Isgard Mountains in search of the Mortius flower have made it back alive.
Arthur: Sounds like fun.

Reason #5 - Meet the Parents

Arthur: Put the sword down, Merlin. You look ridiculous.

Reason #6 - I'd Die for You

Arthur: I had no idea you were so keen to die for me.
Merlin: Trust me, I can hardly believe it myself.
Arthur: I'm glad you're here, Merlin.

Reason #7 - Sacrifice

Merlin: I'm happy to be your sevant. Til the day I die.

Aww the fanfic totally writes itself, i was never a arlin fan, didnt even know people shipped them, then when i learnt that they did, i watched Merlin closer and was amazed because its in the writing its the "theres something about you" "id die for you" its like its intense friendship ... with that little bit something else. This is really gorgeous and made me smile, and miss Merlin =[ sigh they should bring series three back really quickly =p x

Ahhhh.....season one goodness! I especially love your reason #5 - "Meet the Parents." Hunith totally ships them! I'm 100% convinced of this.
